Our Mission

All funding areas are selected by community stakeholders and satisfy critical needs that they have identified in their neighborhoods, or “pay forward” a similar act of kindness shown to them during their arrival, integration, or re-integration process.

Sequera Foundation turns lived experience into action: building equity, wellness, and opportunity for multilingual, multicultural, and justice-impacted youth and families.

Our Story

Sequera began with a name.

In 2023, as Venezuelan individuals and families arrived in Denver during a wave of displacement, small teams of volunteers mobilized to meet immediate needs- hot meals, diapers, blankets, a ride across town. Among those first new arrivals was Sequera, a young man whose case remains tethered to our hearts.

Our team at DiversifiED Consulting had been working in schools and shelters across the city, supporting newly arrived families through language access and cultural navigation. But we saw something more powerful emerging- former refugee newcomers activating their time and resources in new, innovative ways. People with first-hand knowledge of what it takes to rebuild a life, eager to guide others doing the same.

That’s how the Sequera Foundation was born: a space for community members to decide together what support looks like, to turn lived experience into strategy, and to build systems where everyone has a chance to move forward.

Today, that mission has grown. Sequera now stands for all people facing moments of instability—refugees, families in transition, and youth rebuilding after hard chapters. The work is the same: listen first, act together, and pay it forward.

Our Roots

Sequera is new in name, not in impact.

Our foundation was built through years of community partnership, cultural navigation, and direct support work led by DiversifiED Consulting- a woman-owned small business recognized for its leadership in multilingual education and newcomer engagement. DiversifiED stands a separate business for social good, while Sequera is a Board-directed 501c3 designed to:

  • Activate voice, choice and leadership from within zones of impact

  • Create pathways to serve clients who are non-eligible under DiversifiED’s program streams, which are bound to ORR-eligible guidelines

Long before Sequera’s launch, DiversifiED’s team of Cultural Navigators- many of them former newcomers themselves- had been connecting families to housing, education, healthcare, and stability across Colorado. When Afghan, Ukrainian, and Venezuelan arrivals surged, that same team organized volunteers, secured temporary lodging, and provided hands-on assistance that kept families safe and connected.

Sequera formalizes that legacy of action. What began as a grassroots response now stands as a structured, community-led foundation with the relationships, insight, and experience to deliver long-term impact.
