The Sequera Foundation is new…
but we‘re building on
two decades of high-impact service in refugee and immigrant communities.
Make it stand out
Sequera was founded in response to incredible unmet needs in Newcomer communities, as identified by our “big sister” organization, DiversifiED Consulting. DiversifiED’s team of multilingual Cultural Navigators have a direct pulse on what our target populations need most- and the cultural knowledge to make meaningful moves toward progress.
DiversifiED is a woman-owned small business that supports organizations serving diverse populations. In the last years, with the arrival of Afghan, Ukrainian, and Venezuelan newcomers, our work has become more hands-on, welcoming and aiding Recent Arrivers on a one-on-one basis.
Our payroll team (all recent or former newcomers themselves) all took action to fill in gaps on a volunteer basis. DiversifiED paid for hotel rooms and basic needs from its business account.
The needs are expanding and evolving. And our in-formal approach wasn’t sustainable. As a service team, we recognized that by concentrating our efforts into a single, well-organized source, we could have impactful, long-lasting impact. And, key to our vision, it would allow for settled New Americans to extend a hand out to those whose U.S journeys are just beginning.
Sequera honors one Venezuelan asylum seeker who became family- and who opened our eyes to what is possible when we cross bridges, find common ground, and lean into our community resources.
We’re glad you’re here!
Get Involved
We currently have two Newcomer-selected/led projects:
Instruments for Afghan Trauma-Informed Music Therapy
Your contribution helps to purchased new and used instruments for recently arrived Afghan individuals and families who are participating in music therapy as away of processing transition and facilitating connection with others.
Music sessions are led by renowned Afghan musician and Humanitarian Parolee Parwiz Negah.
Temporary Shelter and Urgent Needs for Recently Arrived Venezuelans
Your contribution supports Venezuelan asylum seekers who have been exited from temporary emergency shelter and are actively working toward long term housing solutions.
These individuals do not qualify for the same rights, protections and services provided to refugees and approved asylum cases. This fund provides emergency shelter, assistance with transportation for family reunification, and links to legal support for asylum proceedings.
To date, Sequera has directly assisted Recent Arrivers with:
Daily meals, hygienic supplies, clothing, emergency lodging, transportation, connections to resources and long-term housing, family reunification, immigration applications & compliance, employment.
We’re a volunteer-operated organization dedicated to financial transparency. Sign up to receive our Quarterly Progress and Spending Report.
